Estes Park Copper Penny & H/J Festival 2013

As mentioned on the home page, I am a 17 year old high school senior living in Colorado. My family has been around horses my whole life. I took my first riding lesson when I was 4, and I've been hooked ever since. When I was seven, I got a pony for my birthday. Her name was Kitty (Kitty Hawk was her registered name). We later found out she was pregnant and we named her baby Lady (Lady Hawk). We sold them because as a stubborn seven year old I wanted a 'big pony'. Later that year we bought my mare Electra. We had her for 8 years before I sold her to the owner of Hobby Horse for a lesson horse. We were very competitive in the Arabian show circuit and her name is still well known, though she is retired from showing.
In the fall of 2011 we ended a lease on a small Quarter Horse mare that wasn't working out for me and decided that it was time for me to get a horse that could jump because that is what I had chosen to do besides the Arabian world. We looked at several and we decided upon my wonderfully weird half draft gelding Max. He was very green and never jumped when we purchased him but he is the most wonderful, willing and sweet horse I have ever met. In September of 2013 he had an accident in the pasture and fractured his coffin bone. He is currently in recovery. |
